THE PERFECT EYEBROWS

Many people say you your brows depend on your face shape... which they do, BUT there are 3 easy rules to stick by. Take a straight, narrow object like a pencil. Follow the pictures from A-C.

THE BASICS
A : Hold the pencil vertically from the base of your nose.. this is where your brows should start.
B : Move the pencil so its lined up with the base of your nose running next to the outer edge of your iris. (the black outlining the colored part of your eye) This is your arch... being the highest point of your eyebrow. There are many sites that say through the center of your pupil, but this creates a look of surprise rather then just opening your eye area. You can also try placing your pencil at the outer corner vertically. This should also give you the right arch.
C : Now move the pencil a bit further to the outside corner of your eye... this is where it should end.

There are other rules that apply to brow shaping...

The top two pictures are examples of things NOT to do, and the bottom are PERFECT brows :)
Eyebrows should always be fluid... the line from the start (A) to the arch(B) should be straight. No clump at the beginning!!! So many people do this, and it makes your eyebrows look very dated.  BAD!!

If you feel like you don't have enough hair growth and are therefor keeping this tadpole looking thing... get them colored. What happens when you color your brows is that the professional will color the little velvety blonde hairs creating a fuller look, and then you can start shaping them properly. You can also use a brow powder to full in places that are patchy... or to extend your brow if they don't reach to where they should end. Try not to use a eyebrow pencil for this unless you brush it out to a soft shadow.

Your eyebrows should also taper smoothly towards the end, which would be the thinnest part. If you see in the second picture... its almost as if its coming down in a saggy curve instead of an uplifting one. This will make you appear tired. The two lower pictures show a perfect curve with the highest point accurately placed.

If you have light colored hair.. your brows should be 2 shades darker, or the color of your roots if they are dark.

Medium could go 2 shades either way... and dark should be 2 shades lighter. (otherwise it can be to harsh)

As you can see... all these examples follow my rules ! :)

  1. Good work Hanne. What would we do without your expertise? We'd still have those pencil thin eyebrows of the 90's.
